FIELD OF VIEW
Measured in degrees and the sub-division arch minutes, this is how much of a scene a lens will capture at a set focal length. This will also vary depending on sensor size.
FLUORINE COATING
While fluorine itself isn’t applied in its raw form, lenses with such coatings have superior non-stick properties, making it easier to remove water splashes and other residues.
FOCUS MOTOR
While ultrasonic drives are generally the quickest, you’ll also find stepping motors in some modern lenses, which are quieter for video shooting. Micro motors are cheaper, but far louder and slower.
IMAGE CIRCLE
This refers to the diameter of the projected image. DC, DX, DiII, EF-S/M and E indicate lenses from Sigma, Nikon, Tamron, Canon and Sony, and need cameras with APS-C sensors.
