A world-first, Canon’s RF 100mm is a 1.4x macro lens with autofocus, and the autofocus is particularly fast as well, based on a Dual Nano USM system. As such, it’s not only super-speedy for stills but enables smooth and virtually silent autofocus transitions when shooting video.
The hybrid optical image stabiliser delivers 5-stop performance in general shooting, boosted to eight stops by later EOS R-series cameras that feature in-body stabilisation. As usual, though, effectiveness drops off as you near the shortest focus distance.
