APERTURE PRIORITY MODE James set Gemma’s camera to Aperture priority mode (Av on the mode dial), and set an aperture of f/11. This tends to be the sweet spot for sharpness on many lenses, and will give a deep depth of field that’s perfect for landscapes. James also set the ISO to 100, which is the lowest native setting on most cameras, and will provide the best image quality. It also means light sensitivity is at its lowest, which is ideal for shooting the longer exposures needed to capture waterfall shots with beautifully blurred water. The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) recently celebrated its 75th birthday, and as part of a series of events held to mark the milestone the NHS teamed up with Fujifilm to hold a photography competition, with employees and volunteers from across the service invited to submit images sharing their personal stories and experiences, both on the front line and behind the scenes. NHS chief executive Amanda Pritchard said: “This competition has provided the perfect opportunity for our incredible staff and volunteers to give a snapshot of life in the NHS, 75 years on from its inception.” Winners were chosen in five categories: Our People, Our Care, Our Environment, Our Innovations, and Our Partners. Sony has announced the a6700, the new flagship model in Sony’s popular lineup of compact APS-C hybrid cameras. The last new flagship in the a6x00 range was the Sony a6600, released way back in September 2019. The a6700 will build off what has come before, offering the same compact design perfect for hybrid content creators, travellers, and weekend shooters. The camera will continue to feature Sony’s E-mount, which now has over 70 lenses in its roster, including 21 lenses designed for APS-C cameras like the a6700. The Sony a6700 will use a 26MP APS-C back-side illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor from Sony’s Exmor R range, which will be capable of ISO 100-32000 (80-102400 extended).
