'The latest figures are worryingly high' Would it surprise you to learn that a staggering 13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK? That’s the reality according to The Trussell Trust charity. And the poverty crisis is getting worse. Millions of families are regularly going hungry, or turning to one of the 425 foodbanks run by The Trussell Trust in times of utter desperation. Foodbanks provide a minimum of three days’ emergency food, and between April 2014 and April 2015, they fed well over a million people - including 396,997 children.
