Recently I received this Tamiya Blackfoot chassis on a trade but was later told it was actually an Original Frog converted to a Blackfoot with some reissued Tamiya parts. I’ll admit I was a little disheartened to hear that news, but after getting some great guidance from the forums, I decided to rebuild it. The Radio Control Expo 2023 (RCX) took over the Fairplex in Pomona, California, on March 18 and 19, 2023, drawing in an impressive attendance of well over 15,000 RC and off-road enthusiasts and more than 400 vendors, vehicle and booth displays. The event was held in conjunction with the California Overland Adventure & Power Sports Expo, making for an exciting weekend for all involved. We recently got our hands on the optional LED light kit for the Traxxas Sledge and figured it’d be great to detail the installation process and our overall thoughts on the kit. Alec informs us that he initially wanted to paint the entire body of his Rochobby Mashigan, but once he saw how nice it was right out of the box, he decided to keep the stock color. He went ahead and customized it to create a “what-if” model instead. Let’s take it back to last November—I planned to attend the Ultimate Scale Truck Expo (USTE) in February and found out that there was going to be a vintage RC race at the event. This race was just the excuse I needed to finally pull the trigger on a Tamiya Sand Scorcher.
