BY THE time you read this, Austrian energy drink giants Red Bull should have completed a takeover of Prem rugby minnows Newcastle Falcons. Newcastle Falcons are set to change name to Newcastle Red Bulls for the 2025-26 season in a deal that should save the club from potential redundancy. WALES, FINALLY, have appointed a new men’s head coach, with Steve Tandy leaving his role as defence coach of Scotland to return home and take on the top job for the WRU. I think Steve is an absolutely brilliant coach. I worked with him on the Lions tour in 2021 and he was fantastic. Great guy, great coach. He was building well at the Ospreys before he left as head coach back in 2018. He’s had different experiences away from home, in Australia as defence coach with the Waratahs and then moving to Scotland too.
