As land dips below the horizon and you set off on a bluewater passage, the time for planning is past. You become almost totally self-sufficient, and if you didn’t bring it, you don’t have it. So preparation is key.
By no means exhaustive, the list of other bluewater gear to think about includes windvane steering, power management and generation systems, watermakers, air-con, refrigeration, ventilation, a hard bottomed tender for beach landings, sailmaker’s sewing machine, barbecue, fishing kit. And plenty of spares to keep it all running!
