‘It’s not enough for one thing to go wrong, boats have to ice the cake with problem after problem’ I was watching the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, on the telly and felt such deep envy. I don’t mean for his wealth, status, global influence, even his short trousers. I wouldn’t want any of those. And then, just as I was thinking what a lucky bloke Sunak was, the television news cut to the President of France, Macron himself, and he had the same quality about him. They are both very short people. Sunak clocks in at 1.7m while Macron boasts 3cm more, but he’s a Frenchman and he would say that, wouldn’t he?
It really is a great handicap for a sailor to be as tall as me, although 6ft…
