Traders in Bangladesh dispute livestock dept over Eid rawhide discrepancy
According to the Chittagong Rawhides Traders Association and the Chittagong District Livestock Department, there is a notable disparity in the rawhide collection figures after Eid-ul-Azha.
818,468 animals were sacrificed, including 533,088 cows, buffaloes, and 285,243 goats and sheep, according to the Livestock Department.
That leaves 172,138 rawhides unaccounted for, according to the trader’s association, which claims to have collected only 360,950.
“We collected all the rawhides from Chittagong city and district,” stated Md. Abdul Kader Sardar, vice president of the Chittagong Rawhides Traders Association.
