I’ve worked on craft magazines for over two decades, but I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to how early we celebrate the year’s big holidays and events – from Christmas toValentine’s Day to Easter. Does every knitter have another knitter (a better one) in their life they aspire to be like? I’m sure I can’t be the only one. OFF TO SCHOOL When Emily started school last year she went into Parrot Class. I remembered that I had an Alan Dart pattern for a parrot so I sorted through my ‘pattern stash’ to find it and then got it knitted in time for her to go to her ‘taster session’ for Reception Class. Pirate Squawk was a great success and Emily had a wonderful time in her first year at school. In July, Emily was told that she would be going into Hedgehog Class, in year one, so I borrowed a pattern from my friend, Jean, to make a tinsel hedgehog. Knitting groups are more than just a club; they’re a place where like-minded creatives come together, sharing not only knitting skills, but laughs, stories and above all, exciting ideas.
