Present and the Future As I have started my career in photography, I am ready to own my first D-SLR, but I am really confused between Canon 1300D and Nikon D3400 as I am very low on budget. Frequency Separation is a technique used in portraiture to give the skin pleasing softness without actually blurring out the skin texture. In the days of film photography, we often used skin-softening filters for portraits. These filters actually reduced the overall sharpness provided by the lens in order to hide facial defects such as pimples and scars. Most methods that soften the skin also tend to soften the underlying skin texture. With Frequency Separation, we divide the image in to Frequency (texture) and Tones/ Colours and edit mainly the tones/ colours while leaving the texture untouched (overdoing the process can reduce the texture!)
