Canon has announced two RF-mount lenses, the RF 15-35 mm f/2.8 L IS USM and RF 24-70 mm f/2.8 L IS USM. As Canon’s first f/2.8 wide zoom lens equipped with image stabilisation for full-frame with a CIPA standard of five stops, the RF 15-35 mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens offers edge-to-edge sharpness throughout the zoom range. The total size of the lens is equivalent to the existing EF lens, but allows for IS, wider field of view and the control ring indicative of the RF lenses. The RF 24-70 mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens is equivalent to the size of the EF counterpart but with image stabilisation. Panasonic has renewed its Leica DG fixed focal length lens based on the Micro Four Thirds system standard. In addition to the large f/1.4 aperture, the Leica DG Summilux 25 mm f/1.4 II ASPH. features splash-and dust-resistant design for heavy field use and is compatible with max. 240 fps sensor drive for high-speed AF. It incorporates an inner focus drive system and stepping motor and is capable of smooth and silent operation. Nikon has expanded its S-line of lenses with the wide-angle Nikkor Z 24 mm f/1.8 S lens for the Nikon Z-series. The fast 24 mm wide-angle prime lens with nine diaphragm blades is ideal for both wide-field photography and videography. Nikon states that despite being an ultra wide-angle lens, the Nikkor Z 24 mm f/1.8 S offers effective distortion correction and edge-to-edge sharpness, where images with minimal distortion even at the periphery can be captured when shooting architecture or a starry sky. Panasonic has introduced the Lumix S PRO 24-70 mm f/2.8 interchangeable standard zoom lens that is compatible with the L-Mount system for the Lumix S Series Full-frame Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Camera. The lens has a rugged dust- and splash-resistant design, a filter diameter of 82 mm and an 11-blade circular aperture diaphragm. National Geographic has announced its plans to discontinue its Your Shot platform as of October 31, 2019. All engagements, promotions and assignments of photos from the community will instead be moved over to its Instagram Your Shot feed. National Geographic announced that this decision was taken so as to reach its wider audience of over 2 million on Instagram. The Instagram handle for the community is @natgeoyourshot. Current community members have the option to download all their images from the platform once every 24 hours. Sony Electronics has announced two additions to its a (Alpha) series of mirrorless cameras with the launch of the Alpha 6600 and Alpha 6100. The Alpha 6600 and Alpha 6100 include a 24.2 MP Exmor CMOS image sensor, the latest BIONZ X image processor, and a front-end LSI implemented in Sony’s full-frame cameras. The Alpha 6600 and Alpha 6100 offer a lightning-fast autofocus acquisition time of 0.02 seconds. With 425 focal-plane phase-detection autofocus (AF) points covering approximately 84 percent of the image area and 425 contrast-detection AF points, the high density and wide coverage of the AF system ensure reliable AF, even in the most challenging light conditions. Sony has announced two APS-C zoom lenses in the G Lens series for their E-mount lineup, the E 16-55 mm f/2.8 G standard zoom lens and the E 70-350 mm f/4.5-6.3 G OSS super-telephoto zoom lens. The 16-55 mm (24-82.5 mm in 35 mm equivalent focal length) APS-C standard zoom with a constant f/2.8 aperture offers excellent G Lens image quality. Photographer Raghu Rai has been named the first recipient of the Académie des Beaux-Arts Photography Award - William Klein. The prize will be presented to Rai in the Palais de l’Institut de France on October 30, 2019. An exhibition retracing the career of the photographer will be held in November 2019 in the Academy’s exhibition space at the Palais de l’Institut de France.
