Nikon has unveiled the next chapter of the Z series with the arrival of two new full-frame mirrorless cameras, the Z 7II and Z 6II. The Z 7II features a 45.7MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor with an ISO range from ISO 64 to 25,600. It comes with up to 10 fps maximum shooting speed at full resolution and its 493 on-sensor phase-detect autofocus points cover 90 percent of the frame. For both models, 10-bit output to an external recorder with N-Log is possible as well as the capture of new HDR (HLG) video and output in 12-bit ProRes Raw with the optional upgrade. On the other hand, the Z 6II is capable of recording 4K UHD video quality with full pixel readout, which is planned to be available in February 2021…

Panasonic has announced the release of the brand’s first box-style Lumix Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Camera DC-BGH1. Based on the Micro Four Thirds System standard, it can be used in a variety of ways from shooting on drones, IP remote control to live streaming and more. Adobe has recently released Lightroom Classic update (version 10.0) containing a new colour grading tool that enables users to control colour grading adjustments for shadows, midtones and highlights and replaces Split Toning from the Colour Grading panel. It also contains adjustments for controlling hue, saturation and luminance. Other improvements include support for real-time live tethered view through Canon cameras. Adobe has also announced the latest updates for Photoshop. Sony has announced that it is acquiring Nevion AS (“Nevion”), a leading provider of virtualised media production solutions, to further enhance its portfolio, providing end-to-end IP and cloud-based production solutions for broadcasting and other applications. Sony, which has been a minority shareholder in Nevion since July 2019, is purchasing the remaining shares in the company, making it a subsidiary. The Swedish company Profoto is a world leader in advanced photographic lighting solutions. Their portable studio flash, the A1 (reviewed by Smart Photography, Dec 2017) was an innovative product that had several firsts to its credit. Their newest model, the A10, builds on its predecessor’s success and brings a host of new features while maintaining the same form factor. Venus Optics has recently added the Canon RF mount option to 3 of their new ultra-wide cinema lenses. They are the Laowa 9 mm T2.9 Zero-D, Laowa 15 mm T2.1 Zero-D Cine Lens and Laowa 12 mm T2.9 Zero-D. Fujifilm has announced the launch of the Fujinon XF 10-24 mm f/4 R OIS WR lens, the 36th interchangeable lens designed for Fujifilm’s X Series digital camera system. The XF10-24 mm is an ultra-wide zoom lens covering focal lengths from 10 mm to 24 mm. The internal structure has been redesigned to make the focus and zoom rings slimmer, giving the lens a lower overall weight than its predecessor. Canon has announced that the Tsuzuri Project (officially, the Cultural Heritage Inheritance Project), a joint project organised by Canon and the Kyoto Culture Association (NPO), donated 5 high-resolution facsimiles of works including “Pine Trees” by Hasegawa Tohaku, the originals of which reside in the collection of the Tokyo National Museum—as part of the project’s Stage 13. The facsimiles were donated to the National Institutes for Cultural Heritage and will be displayed at the Tokyo National Museum from October 27.
