Are D-SLRs really dead? Not so long ago, all experts were unanimous in their opinion that D-SLRs were a dying breed. However, sales statistics for the past year indicate that while the industry was indeed very badly affected by Covid, the major impact was on mirrorless cameras, whose sales slumped to 71% of the previous year. D-SLRs were steadier at 80.5%. In the US, D-SLRs actually witnessed an increase in sales to 138% whereas mirrorless camera sales declined by 57%. Are D-SLRs likely to make a comeback? Unlikely. The real reason is that D-SLR stocks were still widely available whereas mirrorless stocks were heavily depleted due to the component crisis. Nikon Releases Memory Card Nikon has announced the release of the MC-CF660G memory card. The MC-CF660G is a CFexpress (Type-B) memory card with a capacity of 660 GB. It realises a speed read rate of approximately 1700 MB/s (maximum) and speed write rate of approximately 1500 MB/s (maximum). According to the company, it is ideal for recording video and stills with the Nikon Z 9 full-frame/FX-format mirrorless camera, recording video in the 8.3K/60p N-Raw format and video recording over extended periods of time. As of now the company has not revealed any information related to its pricing and availability.
