The new Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market has finally been completed after fourteen years.
The Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market was located in Noryangjin-dong, Dongjakgu, Seoul since 1971, and until 2014, it had a floating population of 30,000 people per day, as the largest traditional market in Korea. However, due to its old facilities and poor image, the Suhyup (National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, Korea) had begun to renovate the market since 2002 when it bought the Noryangjin Fisheries and its refrigerated storages.
In 2008, a feasibility research and basic planning project was established, and in 2009, the Hyundai Engineering & Construction and SPACE Group were selected as the designers.
