Travels can take us near, and they can take us far; both, I suppose, are relative. For this traveler, no corner of the earth is too far to go and explore. Although there is an abundance of art and craft making here in the United States, sometimes by going back to the source—the birthplace of its creation—you get a better understanding of the motivation and the inspiration of the makers behind a tradition.
