Joyful Teatimes
“In Uganda, there are many widows, both young and old. They have suffered much from wars, AIDS, and poverty. While my husband and I were sent there as missionaries, I wanted to do something special for them and bring some joy into their lives.
I planned an afternoon tea party! Friends in America sent me china, teacups, and teapots to use. We invited widows from many villages. We had 70 ladies attend. We set tables around my veranda and my tearoom. We covered the tables with white linen tablecloths and an abundance of tropical flowers, beautiful teapots, and teacups, along with trays of sweet bread, little sandwiches, and fancy cookies. We filled the teapots with Ugandan tea made with tea masala, milk, and sugar.
