PATTERN NOTES Left and right socks are identical except that the cable is worked to the front for the left sock, and to the back for the right. The first round of white after each navy stripe is also worked in stocking stitch – this is because purling creates bumps in the colour of the previous round, so you need a plain round of white before starting the ribbing again to create smooth bands of colour. PATTERN NOTES CONSTRUCTION This cardigan is worked top down. The front and back shoulders are started separately, then joined to work the body in one piece. The sleeves are worked separately. Once the cardigan has been sewn up, the buttonband is knitted on. ADJUSTMENTS For a longer cardigan, you can just work more rows before you start the cat chart, but be aware that the pockets will also be lower.
