BRONAGH MISKELLY has used a mock cable pattern to bring an appealing texture to her latest sock design. Bronagh’s socks are knitted from the top down, using a blend of wool, alpaca and polyamide from Rico Design which knits up into a machine-washable fabric with a soft halo and a slightly heathered appearance. PATTERN NOTES The vest is worked in two pieces. Each piece starts off with a garter stitch border with a stocking stitch feature that lines up with the mosaic pattern, then moving into a 24-row repeat mosaic pattern, with armhole and front/back neck shapings. As the body is worked, specific rows and stitches are marked (with locking stitch markers) so they can be located when working the final slipped stitch edging on the neck and armbands. When did you first try dyeing yarn? “According to my Instagram it was almost exactly four years ago! AN ICON of British knitwear design, Louisa Harding has had a long and illustrious career. After studying at Brighton University, she began designing for the York shire based yarn company Rowan more than 30 years ago. She has since gone on to establish herself as an independent designer with worldwide appeal, thanks to her unabashedly feminine, graceful aesthetic.
