Designer Marie Wallin has added a new aran-weight option to her British Breeds yarn range. It’s accompanied by a pattern book, called Aran, which contains 12 women’s designs, four of which use steeks. RACHEL CHALLONER is a crofter on Fair Isle, the southernmost isle in the Shetland archipelago. As well as looking after her flock of sheep and producing her own yarns for her Bee Croft Wool brand, Rachel has embarked on an ambitious new project to create a visual archive of knitwear made on the island of Fair Isle – and she is calling on our readers to help! ONE HUNDRED years ago, on June 8th or 9th, two men disappeared into the clouds above the north (Tibetan) face of Mount Everest, “going strong for the top,” and only a few hundred feet from the summit, according to Noel Odell -who was fated to be the last person on earth to see George Mallory and Sandy Irvine alive.
