West Yorkshire Spinners’ The Croft yarn offers amazing stitch definition and softness, and Sarah Hatton has used these qualities to great effect in her new accessories collection. Beautifully textured designs include ‘Maeve’, a wide cabled scarf knitted in The Croft Aran, and ‘Erin’, an elongated triangular shawl with subtle knit-and-purl patterns, using The Croft DK. The ‘Astrid’ shawl combines texture with cables; its stripe pattern incorporates cables, mock cables, simple texture and colourwork. ONE OF THE things knitters often talk about when it comes to knitting patterns is fit. No two bodies are the same, and we all like different things. Usually, a pattern will be modelled on one body for the purposes of showing what it looks like to potential makers. This makes it difficult for people with bodies of different sizes and proportions to visualise how that pattern will look on them. This applies to all sorts of differences, but mainly in the waist, hip, chest and sleeve circumference, armhole depth and sleeve length.
