After the sad, sincere acoustic record Sleeper in 2013, Segall followed it with this glittery, glam-rock epic. As is often the case, he played almost all the instruments, and the likes of the swinging “Jean Genie”-ish “The Faker” were cleaner and more addictively catchy than we’d previously come to expect. 8/10
Freedom’s Goblin

Arguably the greatest Segall album, like ‘The White Album’ this double LP tries out a different genre on each track. There’s Southern jamming, country-folk, Hawkwind-esque space-rock, hardcore punk, the best Hot Chocolate cover of all time and even an attempt at electro-goth. Every one’s, as it were, a winner. 9/10
