In 1979, Tunisian couturier Azzedine Alaïa created stage costumes for the dancers of Crazy Horse Paris, the world-famous Parisian cabaret. Forty-five years later, this project is the muse for the first edition of Dialogue, creative director Pieter Mulier's new series of cultural and artistic explorations under the house. “[Azzedine] was such a visionary, that from the very start, he imagined Alaïa as a whole. More specifically, he's midway through the pilot when Vogue arrives at his studio, a two-storey house just east of Metro Manila. FEATURE Born in Kalihi, Hawai'i, Gil Duldulao's story began as a little boy who was looking to fit into his own skin. When he took a hip-hop dance class for beginners, his limbs took over. “I felt like it was a natural thing for me. It wasn't uncomfortable or awkward. It connected with me and I felt connected to it,” Duldulao recounts with a smile. Initially, he attributed part of his interest to his Filipino heritage, constantly being surrounded by music and relatives who could sing and dance in some capacity. WHEN JUDE LARTEY WAS GROWING UP, he found his dad's photobook from the '60s and '70s and was surprised at how compelling the images were despite the simplicity of its contents: parties, places in Ghana, and portraits of his dad. He also found his family's photobook of images of his grandfather who was a personal bodyguard for Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the West African country's first prime minister and then elected president when the country gained independence from Britain.
