Happy landings
It is a universal truth that not all airports are created equal. The unveiling of Pakyong, the first airport in India’s most northeasterly state of Sikkim, not only opens up a rare stretch of the Himalaya bordering Bhutan and Nepal but provides one of the most dramatic landings on the planet. Built into a hillside at 1,371m above sea level, it’s an engineering marvel, though only connections via Guwahati and Kolkata currently fly there.
