The fact that rampant clothing consumption pollutes the earth and affects biodiversity isn’t news either and, therefore, we cannot look the other way. According to the UN, textile production accounts for 20 percent of global wastewater and 10 percent of global carbon emissions. Moreover, in the last 15 years, the production of clothing worldwide has doubled, while its use has decreased by 50%. If we talk about Spain, we spend an average of 450€ ($520) per person per year on clothing, generating between 26 and 30 pounds of textile waste.
