Featuring on TV, in print, on radio, and at live events, including Crufts and fun dog shows, he has been sharing his knowledge of – and his huge passion for – dogs for many years. Owner and founder of Dogease, he helps hundreds of owners train their dogs but he’s more than just an excellent trainer. There is often a negative connotation towards dogs wearing a muzzle but view it as a positive. Muzzles can be necessary to keep others and your dog safe, or helpful to prevent scavenging. They are also handy if your dog is injured and in pain, or you need to perform necessary husbandry. Some places may even insist on your dog wearing a muzzle, for example on ferries. It is best to choose a basket form muzzle, not the fabric type that holds the mouth closed. Dogs can’t eat, drink and, more importantly, pant to cool down when wearing the fabric versions. Despite officially hanging up his harness with Sussex Police four years ago, German Shepherd, Bear, has shown he’s not quite ready to settle into life in the slow lane just yet. Because late last November, the former general purpose police dog called on his training and instinct to prove he’s still got what it takes to save lives.
