While Jupiter graces the cover this issue, it also features quite prevalently in our planetary guide. Dazzling at magnitude -2.1 in the evening sky, the gas giant makes for easy pickings, whether you have a telescope, binocular or are just using the naked eye. What’s particularly exciting about observing the Jovian world over the coming weeks is that it won’t be alone as twilight comes around; it will snuggle up to Uranus, which will be an impressive sight seen through binoculars of at least 10x50 magnification. The duo will begin five degrees or so apart, and by mid-April will be less than a degree apart, visible in the same binocular field of view.
