Activist investor Carl Icahn is backing off his proposal that Apple spend $50 billion buying back its own stock during the current fiscal year that ends in September. The game no longer appears in searches on Google Play or Apple’s App Store. When an iPhone user views the Top Charts, Flappy Bird is absent from the Free Games chart it topped for the past week. If one views the developer page for Dong Nguyen within iTunes, Flappy Bird is no longer featured. A direct link to the game’s Google Play page from the Web has been pulled, but the iTunes page remains. Yet more than 12 years later, a substantial number of PCs with Windows XP as their operating system are still in use. According to consultant Net Applications, XP machines represented a 29.23% market share last month, ahead of all the PC operating systems that came after it except for Windows 7, which has a 47.49% share. Google has passed Exxon to become the second most valuable U.S. company by market capitalization. According to FactSet data, the Internet company’s market capitalization surpassed that of oil company Exxon Mobil Corp. last week. As of Friday’s market close, it sat at $395.42 billion compared with the oil company’s $392.66 billion. Shares of Google Inc. have been on a steady climb since the beginning of 2013, gaining 66 percent. Market capitalization is the number of outstanding shares multiplied by their value.
