A FIREFIGHTER has been hailed a hero after he saved the life of a 5-month-old baby who was in distress.
Safety and Security mayco member, JP Smith, said firefighter Michael Samuels, stationed at Mitchell’s Plain Fire Station, sprang into action to help a frantic mother and her infant who was struggling to breathe.
“In the early hours of Thursday morning, firefighter Michael Samuels was on duty in the Watch Room at Mitchell’s Plain Fire Station, when a resident alerted him to a baby in distress at a neighbouring home,” he said.
“Soon after, the mom, Cachet Scala and her baby, Isaiah, arrived at the Fire Station, and firefighter Samuels set about trying to check for any blockages in his airway.
