To earn its name, the Ranger Super Duty was put through an extensive testing programme. Jim Baumbick, Vice President of Advanced Product Development, Cycle Planning and Programmes at Ford Motor Company, said, “We torture test our trucks to earn the name ‘Super Duty’.”
In fact, some of the tests conducted on the Ranger Super Duty were so tough the Blue Oval’s Australian arm had to trade manpower for that of autonomous robots, which were used to run round-the-clock tests, such as simulating driving down a rocks-trewn dry riverbed.
Available in single-, super- and double-cab body styles, the Super Duty is exclusively equipped with Ford’s 184 kW/600 N.m 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel, familiar 10-speed self-shifter and four-wheel drive.
