Rich red soil, 700m elevation and with an average rainfall of 1100mm, the district's farmers grow kipflers, Dutch creams, desiree and red pontiacs just to name a few.
If you're a potato lover (and let's be honest, who isn't?), it's a feast for the senses, with plenty to do, see and taste. And yes, of course, you can buy a bag or two of potatoes to take with you. They're available on the day direct from the farmers, or you can stop at a roadside stall and grab a bag.
