Of murder, at least. John Chardon was cleared of the murder of his wife Novy, but found guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter. Justice Ann Lyons sentenced him to 15 years in prison, with parole eligibility in 2031. At his sentencing, it was revealed Chardon had already been convicted of indecent treatment of a child under 12 years old – an offence that occurred just six weeks after his wife’s disappearance. It emerged he’d also since been found guilty of raping a teenager back in the late 1990s. Detective Inspector Damien Hansen vowed to keep searching for Novy’s body. ‘We’d like to get Novy back to return her to her family and lay her in rest with a bit of dignity,’ he said. Chorizo tortilla A classic Spanish omelette, pepped up with chorizo. SERVES 8 PREP TIME 10 MINS COOK TIME 50 MINS • 150g pack chorizo cubes • 300ml olive oil • 270g waxy salad potatoes, peeled and cut into 1.5cm cubes • 1 onion, sliced • 6 eggs • 1tbsp chopped fresh parsley • 1tbsp snipped fresh chives 1 Dry-fry the chorizo in a non-stick pan until crisp.
