My wife’s enthusiasm is no less than my own. You drive the car with your fingertips, the gearbox is like velvet. There was much for Porsche enthusiasts to celebrate at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, which took place shortly before this issue of Classic Porsche went to press. Singer Vehicle Design wowed the thronging masses with a demonstration of its reimagining of turbocharged 911s, while the highly anticipated Supercar Paddock impressed with a variety of Stuttgart-crested sports cars. Porsche itself used the event as a means to showcase the brand-new 911 (second-generation 992) and the all-electric Macan, which featured as part of what Porsche Cars Great Britain billed as ‘Porsche House’, essentially the brand’s central exhibition feature. So far, so, er, conventional. The report, which launched last July, is now finalised, as confirmed by The Department for Transport (DfT) Review Team to the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC). The review includes many recommendations, each now awaiting approval. In short, the review assesses whether the DVLA is up to the job asked of it.
