Whenever the Dolomite is mentioned, either in conversation or in a magazine, it's usually suffixed by the word 'Sprint'. And with good reason, as the Dolomite Sprint with its perfect blend of quality, equipment, driving appeal and electrifying performance (certainly for 1973), is a thing of legend. I have happy and, it must be said, mostly Tarmac-tearing memories of the Sprint (back in the day) and it is a car I've long held a candle for.
Nevertheless, because the Sprint has become such an icon of its time and is so well-known and respected, it has tended to eclipse every other iteration of the Dolomite. Well, it's about time that less-sporting-but-equally-worthy variants, such as the Dolomite 1850 HL for example, emerge from the Sprint's shadows.
