Winter training has begun, my fitness is slowly returning, and festive hot chocolates are back on the menu. Finally! Here are some of my top tips for not just surviving, but thriving, in those long winter miles.
I’ll start off with the most important factor in a ride’s enjoyability: clothing. Speaking from my wealth of experience of British winters, many rides with frozen fingers and toes, and many hours of thawing once returning home, I can’t emphasise the importance of good clothing enough. Get some nice gloves, overshoes, a headband and rain jacket, and if you’re usually extra frozen like me, hand warmers on top of your socks work a treat. I recommend our kit sponsor Nalini, of course!
