When you think of intentional camera movement (ICM) and trees, the usual practice is an upward motion, with a wiggle to emphasise the tree trunk. However, when we consider flowering trees, such as cherry blossom, weeping willow, crabapple and magnolia, other creative possibilities emerge. Some of these trees appear in spring, while others only flower in summer, giving you plenty of opportunity to create some interesting effects. Rather than concentrating on the tree trunks, the idea is to exaggerate the flowering part of the tree, creating a blaze of colour, especially on a sunny day when you have a blue sky to set it against.
