Fishery production in Mozambique grew by almost 107 000t (25%) in the first quarter of 2024 compared to 2022, while industrial aquaculture more than doubled between January and March to 1 596t, 31,6% of the target for the entire 2024, according to a report by FurtherAfrica.com.
According to government figures, this was 20,5% of the total 2024 target of 522 671t, spread between fishing and aquaculture. “Live crab (621t) and live lobster (3t) contributed very well in this subsector,” the report read.
