At the African Agri Investment Indaba, held recently in Cape Town, Western Cape, Kazuhiro Numasawa, manager of agriculture finance and rural infrastructure development at African Development Bank in Cote d’Ivoire, spoke about the importance of agroparks and agricultural transformation centres to increase agricultural productivity and improve lives and food security in Africa.
He defined agroparks as designated areas that integrated agricultural production, processing, logistics, marketing, training, and extension services to enhance efficiency and innovation.
Agricultural transformation centres, in contrast, were facilities focused on processing and value addition of agricultural products, thereby promoting the transition from primary production to more lucrative agribusiness activities, he added.
