Ray’s EK is running an Endyn RRC inlet. This super-rare part is very much sought after in VTEC tuning circles. Endyn Energy Dynamics is a boutique specialist which has been operating in the States since 1959, starting out tuning two-stroke karts and expanding into all manner of motorsport and aerospace endeavours. Their bespoke inlets for Honda engines are jewel-like works of art, with perfectly optimised and tailored plenum shape, volume, throttle body position, runner/plenum intersect, runner length/cross-section, and›flange angles. It’s all very desirable, and exquisitely engineered. Plenum shapes are configured to eliminate reflected harmonics, and manifold runner entries are tailored to nat-asp or forced induction applications. By binning the heavy glass, Dionne has not only been able add a dash of circuit chic with race-style window-sliders, but he has also been able to shed a large chunk of the car’s overall weight. Hot hatches are a drug. They’ve characterised a particular kind of driving thrill since their inception in the mid-1970s, and for generations of tuners who’ve seen these cars pass through a golden age of modifying, there really is no substitute. Sure, a rear-wheel-drive coupé with a bruising straight-six would offer transitory mirth, and a low-slung roadster would entertainingly rework your carefully arranged hair, but it’s hot hatches that provide the everyday mischief.
