1911 Carry Hey guys, was looking at your September issue and came across the Springfield EMP4 story. While I enjoy all different types of guns, including 1911s, I always kind of roll my eyes when I see another article on a 1911 carry gun. To get the most out of its new 28-gauge Ethos, Benelli partnered with Fiocchi to develop 3-inch high-velocity shells that could reliably bring down larger upland birds like pheasant. For our hunt, Fiocchi set us up with 1-ounce loads containing No. 5 lead shot traveling at a velocity of 1,300 fps. While I initially had my doubts at how effective a 28 gauge would be on pheasant, which can sometimes be tough to bring down even with a 12 gauge, I came away from the hunt quite impressed with the Ethos’ performance when paired with the 3-inch Fiocchi shells.
