When we talk about insect pollinators, the first to mind for most people will be the honeybee. Yes, she is a pollinator, but she sits at the tip of the iceberg of the many other insect species that are involved in pollination. That group consists of numerous intentional as well as accidental pollinators, including many different species of bees, beetles, true bugs, wasps, flies, ants, grasshoppers, moths and butterflies.
I recommend that the next time you go out into your garden, see if you can spot some of these amazing insects. Though you may consider some of these insignificant, if it weren’t for these pollinators, we’d be eating lots of mushrooms and fungi.…
