In last month’s editorial, the question of banning nitromethane from drag racing was raised, and we indicated that we were going to follow up that discussion with opinions of racers, officials and spectators in this issue. Because of the Energy Crisis, the impact of a possible Nitro Ban has been diminished; however, we are going to present our findings here in capsule form. Before we get into it, however, we would like to make one point clear. Neither nitromethane nor alcohol is a petroleum distillate, and they should not be thought of in the same short-supply situation as gasoline.
