A Vitamin D is an essential vitamin for bone and muscle development and maintenance, and it plays a role in regulating the immune and nervous systems. A vitamin D deficiency can cause a decline in calcium and phosphorus absorption by the intestines, which can lead to hypocalcaemia (low calcium levels in the blood).
