When it comes to sustainability, the textiles industry is, unfortunately, a serial offender.
Just think about the discarded fast-fashion garments filling our landfills, and the water and energy used to produce fabric in the first place. According to a study conducted by Earth.Org in 2023, 92 million tonnes of textile waste ends up in landfill every year. And with 20,000 litres of water needed to produce just one kilogram of cotton, the impact on our planet is huge. In fact, up to 5 per cent of the textile industry globally is quilting related.
It’s easy to adopt a mindset that, as individuals, our actions have a minimal effect. But even if it doesn’t feel like it, small incremental changes, when made by a large group of people, can make waves.…
