Karen Singh karen.singh@inl.co.za Raylene Louw, the mother of Miguel Louw who was murdered in 2018, said she hoped that no other parent would have to endure what she went through.
Her victim impact statement was handed to the court as part of the sentencing proceedings for Miguel’s killer, Mohammed Vahed Ebrahim. He was found guilty of the 2018 kidnapping and premeditated murder in December 2020, by Durban High Court Judge Jacqueline Henriques.
In her statement, Louw said Ebrahim’s lack of remorse was disturbing; no words could explain the ordeal they endured after he took Miguel, 9, and lied about knowing where he was.
“It was horrific, the sleepless nights, not eating, being worried, wondering, thinking where my son could be and how afraid he must be,” she said.
