If there were any doubts about Dr. Ferdinand Piëch’s plans for Volkswagen to become a world presence, as well as a dominant player in the U.S., they were shattered like a champagne bottle on the bow of a ship at the Paris Auto Show and coincidental ’99 Jetta launch.
