Zebra
Hello, young human person! I am a Burchell’s zebra which is a type of plains zebra. Plains zebras are known as common zebras. I am a herbivore – that is, I eat only grass and plants. The plains, of course, are flat grasslands. While I’m closely related to the horse and donkey, we are a different species.
Family
We zebras live in very close-knit family units. Each family has a male, called a stallion, five or six females, called mares, and several young zebras, called foals or colts. Families stick together within large herds, which sometimes consist of more than a thousand zebras. I live in Botswana, in southern Africa, but you will find plains zebras in many countries in southern and eastern Africa.
