Panasonic has announced the Lumix 35mm f/1.8, a new affordable fast prime for owners of L-mount cameras, and the final optic in the company’s set of four f/1.8 primes that have been designed with similar dimensions and handling. The four lenses in this group now comprise the Panasonic Lumix S 85mm f/1.8, Lumix S 50mm f/1.8, Lumix S 24mm f/1.8 and this new Lumix S 35mm F1.8 (model no S-S35). Most action cameras will allow you to capture both JPEG and raw files simultaneously, so you can quickly transfer and share JPEGs to clients or friends, while also retaining the raw files for a more thorough edit when you get back to the computer. Parameters such as saturation, sharpness and contrast are all decided by the camera when you shoot in JPEG mode, but by shooting in raw, as with any capture, you capture raw tonal data. Although the initial raw file will look relatively bland, adjustments can then be made when editing using raw conversion software such as Lightroom or Affinity Photo, enabling you to push every pixel further to produce a more finely polished finished image.
