GOLD KEY MAY be newcomers to the UK music scene, but they’re already making waves, partly due to a brace of excellent singles at the end of last year and partly due to the track record of the musicians involved, who have been in the ranks of Blackhole, SikTh, Gallows and Krokodil.
“First and foremost, we’re all friends,” explains frontman and guitarist Steve Sears. “Lags [Laurent Barnard] and I, and James [Leach], have known each other for, well, I don’t want to think about how long. Lags and I actually went to school together. We tend to write bittersweet, darker stuff, and I think it’s a band that was always going to happen. I’ve wanted to be in this band for ages…”
