Formula 1 supplier, Pirelli, is planning to introduce its new, ultra-soft C6 tyre compound to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola in May.
The Italian supplier developed this latest option primarily for street circuits, due to the less aggressive asphalt putting less energy through the tyres. However, Pirelli’s motorsport director, Mario Isola, told reporters at pre-season testing last week that the C6 would likely make its debut at a permanent track.
‘I believe we are going to confirm the C6 for Imola and probably Montreal,’ he said. ‘Depending on the results we have from [those] two representative circuits, we can decide to use the C6 also in Singapore and Vegas.
